Building Games That Matter

We started NextOriginHub because we believed mobile gaming could be more than quick entertainment – it could create lasting connections and meaningful experiences for players across Taiwan and beyond.

How We Got Started

Back in 2020, our founder was working late nights on a puzzle game prototype, testing it with friends during coffee breaks. What surprised us wasn't just the positive feedback – it was how people kept playing weeks later, sharing strategies and competing with family members.

That's when we realized something important. The Taiwan mobile gaming market was full of imported titles that felt disconnected from local culture and preferences. Players wanted games that understood their lifestyle, their humor, their way of connecting with others.

"We decided to focus on creating games that felt genuinely Taiwanese – not just translated versions of global hits, but experiences built from the ground up for our community."

So we started small, working with local artists and sound designers, testing ideas with night market vendors and university students. Each project taught us something new about what makes mobile gaming truly engaging for our audience.

What Drives Our Work

Every game we create reflects these core principles that guide our development process

Player-First Design

We spend more time observing how people actually play than following industry trends. Real player behavior always trumps theoretical best practices.

Technical Excellence

Smooth performance isn't optional. We optimize for older devices and slower connections because great games should be accessible to everyone.

Cultural Authenticity

Our games feel familiar to Taiwanese players – from visual aesthetics to gameplay rhythms that match local preferences and social habits.

Mei-Lin Chen, Lead Game Designer at NextOriginHub

Mei-Lin Chen

Lead Game Designer

Mei-Lin joined us after spending five years at a major international studio, where she often felt frustrated by the disconnect between global game design and local player preferences. She brings deep expertise in mobile UX design and has a talent for creating gameplay mechanics that feel intuitive to Taiwanese audiences. When she's not sketching out new game concepts, you'll find her testing prototypes with her grandmother – our toughest critic and most valuable tester.

Our Development Process

  1. 1

    Community Research

We spend weeks in cafes, on public transport, and at local gatherings, observing how people interact with their phones and what types of experiences they crave during different parts of their day.

  2. 2

    Rapid Prototyping

Instead of lengthy planning phases, we build playable versions quickly and test them with real users. This helps us discover what works and what doesn't before investing in full development.

  3. 3

    Iterative Refinement

Each testing session reveals new insights. We adjust gameplay mechanics, visual elements, and user flows based on actual player behavior rather than assumptions about what should work.

  4. 4

    Local Optimization

We fine-tune performance for the devices and network conditions most common in Taiwan, ensuring smooth gameplay across a wide range of smartphones and connection speeds.

Looking Forward

We're not trying to become the biggest mobile game studio in Taiwan – we're focused on becoming the most trusted. That means continuing to create games that respect our players' time, money, and intelligence while pushing the boundaries of what mobile entertainment can achieve in 2025 and beyond.

Our upcoming projects explore new ways to blend single-player experiences with meaningful social connections, always keeping our local community at the center of our design decisions.
